Experience high octane-action in a mobile platform racing game from a booming Japanese truck company! UD Trucks proudly presents Ekiden Saga, a thrilling ride that brings together fast trucks and runners with loads of new twists. But the amazing story is not entirely fictional – the cool and devoted game characters are actually modelled after real UD Trucks employees.
Ekiden Saga is now available for iOS and Android. With this exciting and unexpected launch UD Trucks want to stir up excitement for the brand, not only among customers, but also among a wide range of influencers, like truck drivers, friends and family.
“Ekiden Saga is going to be super fun for casual players, but will also show customers and trucks drivers around the world our passion for transport efficiency” says Andreas Rosén, Manager Digital Communication UD Trucks.
Ekiden is a Japanese form of long-distance road relay. In the Ekiden Saga a secret cargo must reach its final destination safely and efficiently, without anyone laying eyes on it. Since some distances can only be travelled by foot it’s a team job. And the task calls for an unbroken transport chain with both trucks and runners – an Ekiden. The trucks and runners move at high pace through a vibrant game world with many levels and stunning environments. You control the game with lightning-fast actions in order to avoid obstacles, collect coins and finally reach the mystery destination.
During the development of the game UD Trucks’ employees were invited to nominate their colleagues to serve as models for the characters in the game. The chosen recruits were then designed as colourful manga characters with superpowers adapted for long-distance running or truck driving.
It was important to engage the staff in the development says Misa Watanabe, Brand Management at UD Trucks, “Each character has unique strengths and personalities, but all of them are highly motivated to get the cargo to the destination on time. That demonstrates our dedication in always go the extra mile and always keep our customers’ businesses moving forward – whatever happens.”
